Hydrogen energy business consulting firm LTechUVC established an SPC (Special Purpose Company) with Al Fattan Energy from the UAE on the 17th to carry out a 200MW green hydrogen and ammonia production project.
This project, with a total cost of approximately $400 million, will be conducted in the KEZAD area, the largest industrial complex in Abu Dhabi. The goal of this project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly and produce green hydrogen and green ammonia on a large scale. To achieve this, the SPC will collaborate with major Korean companies that have expertise in this field.
LTechUVC, a participant in the SPC, is a consulting firm specializing in hydrogen-based energy businesses and is currently pursuing a 20MW hydrogen fuel cell project set to start construction this year. Another participant, Al Fattan Energy, is a subsidiary of Al Fattan Holding Investment and has extensive experience in nuclear, oil and gas, and renewable energy engineering.
The hydrogen production investment by both companies represents the first step in hydrogen technology development in the UAE, supported by UAE government agencies and various business relationships. This is timely, as Korea, one of the world's top three ammonia importers, has recently decided to pursue green ammonia co-firing to achieve 'net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.'
LTechUVC, stated, "We are promoting various renewable energy and hydrogen projects to ensure a smooth production, supply, and utilization of green hydrogen and green ammonia. Through this project, we plan to secure green ammonia stably and on time, and lead future energy businesses by early establishment of the hydrogen value chain."
